Groves Commits to Roane State

The Ontario Nationals would like to congratulate Jackson Groves (IF) of Belmont, ON on his commitment to Roane State Community College (NJCAA D1).

Groves joined the Nationals in his 15U year. He had dreams of making it to the next level of play, but knew he needed guidance and support to get there. He said he wanted to play for an organization that he knew had a strong focus on developing their players.

Groves’ love for baseball runs deep, and much of it is rooted in the people. “Some of my best friends I’ve ever had and best people I have ever met have come from baseball,” Groves said. He is a coachable and determined player who works hard to make adjustments when needed.

While choosing a college, Groves was drawn to Roane State through his discussions with the coaching staff. “The conversations I had with Coach Cam always felt genuine and he made me feel wanted. I also feel that the JUCO route is the best way for me to get where I want to be,” Groves explained.

When asked about his commitment, Groves expressed deep gratitude for all the help he’s gotten along the way, especially from his father, Dan. When speaking of his dad, Groves said, “he taught me the game and everything I know about it. The mental and physical side, and how to deal with failure. I wouldn’t be here without him.”

Congratulations to Jackson and his family on this commitment. We look forward to following him on the next steps of his baseball journey!
