Mander Commits to Cleary

The Ontario Nationals are pleased to announce Aaron Mander’s commitment to Cleary University (NAIA). Mander, a middle infielder from Guelph, ON, first joined the Nationals in December 2021.

Drawn to the Nationals for the strong team culture and high-level coaching, Aaron shared, “I chose the Nats because everyone was very welcoming and motivated to succeed, and the experienced, talented coaching staff gave me confidence that they could help me achieve my baseball goals.”

For Aaron, the learning process in baseball is one of the most rewarding aspects of the game. “I love the process of learning, adjusting, and seeing the results from the cage to the field. There’s a rush when you make a great play, especially knowing it came from the hard work you put in off the field,” he explained. Baseball, for Aaron, is also about the bonds formed within the team. “Your teammates become some of your best friends,” he added, emphasizing the camaraderie he values deeply.

Known as a dedicated, hardworking teammate, Aaron is described as a leader who can always be counted on to support the team and bring his best effort to practices, training, and games. His passion for the game is evident in his commitment to the team and the energy he brings to every aspect of play.

Aaron’s connection with Cleary University began on the Nationals' 2023 Fall Trip, where he was scouted by Coach Maki, who stayed in contact and helped open the door to this new opportunity. “It meant something that Coach Maki showed interest in me when I was just kicking off as part of 17U,” Aaron said. Cleary’s excellent business programs and top-notch facilities also drew Aaron’s interest, and he’s excited to join a program where several Nationals alumni have thrived. “I’m looking forward to learning from the Cleary coaching team and continuing to grow as a player and person,” he shared.

As Aaron Mander heads to Cleary University, the Ontario Nationals extend their congratulations and best wishes for his continued success. Aaron also expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s been an incredible experience playing for the Nationals. I’ve learned so much, especially from my 18U Head Coach, Chris Iltshishin, who has been my trainer for five years at Peak Performance Athletics. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Chris’ support and guidance.”
