Schaeffer Commits to University of Pikeville

The Ontario Nationals are pleased to announce Tyler Schaeffer’s commitment to the University of Pikeville (NAIA). Schaeffer, an outfielder from Woodstock, ON, joined the Nationals in the fall of 2022 and has been an integral part of the organization ever since.

Tyler joined the Nationals to elevate his game and position himself for post-secondary opportunities. “I wanted to play baseball at a higher level and continue my journey to competing at a post-secondary school,” he shared. Since then, he has embodied the Nationals’ commitment to development and success.

For Tyler, baseball is more than just a sport. “I love that baseball teaches perseverance. It’s a team game based on individual performance, which helps prepare the individual for life beyond the game,” he said. This perspective reflects the maturity and determination that have made Tyler a respected teammate and player.

Known as a hardworking and reliable individual, Tyler is described by those who know him as someone who always strives to be the best version of himself. These qualities, combined with his strong work ethic, have set him apart on and off the field.

The University of Pikeville stood out to Tyler, checking all the boxes on the list of what he was looking for in a college. “The campus is very nice, with a good academic history and a good baseball program,” he explained. Tyler is eager to continue developing as both a player and a person at Pikeville, and he’s excited for the opportunities ahead.

Tyler also expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am very thankful for the opportunity and am especially grateful to Coach Izzy, Rankin, and Schnarr for helping me build a foundation to continue to grow as a ballplayer.” As Tyler Schaeffer prepares to begin this new chapter at the University of Pikeville, the Ontario Nationals extend their congratulations and best wishes for his continued success.
