Sheehy Commits to Northeastern JC

The Ontario Nationals are proud to announce the college commitment of Jackson Sheehy. Hailing from Guelph, Ontario, Sheehy has proven himself as a valuable asset to the Nationals, showcasing his skills as both a Catcher and Right-Handed Pitcher. He has chosen to continue his baseball career at the Northeastern JC (NJCAA D1)

Sheehy's journey with the Nationals began in 2021. His decision to join the Nationals was deeply influenced by the connection he forged with Ontario Nationals Owner & President, Jeremy Jayaweera. Sheehy reflects, "Coach Jeremy and I clicked the moment we had our first conversation. He has been guiding me and helping me out with this whole recruitment journey and keeping me calm when certain things didn’t go as we thought they would. Jeremy cares for his players and cares about this organization and that, to me, was what made me want to come join the Ontario Nationals."

Described by those who know him as a dedicated, hardworking player with a passion for the game, Sheehy's commitment to both his athletic pursuits and education is commendable.

Sheehy's choice to further his academic and athletic career at Northeastern JC was a decision rooted in careful consideration. "I liked how the coach had a plan for me and he expressed how I would be utilized," Sheehy explains. "I liked the team's past success, I like the fact that they care about their academics and making sure their players are leaving the school with a 3.0 GPA. The fact they have a 100% placement rate after the 2 years is something I found impressive and important since I have aspirations to continue playing collegiate ball at the highest level possible!"

As Sheehy looks ahead to his collegiate journey, he expresses anticipation for the new experiences that await. "I’m looking forward to getting out to Colorado and experiencing a state I have never been to before and meeting all my new teammates and coaches. I’m excited to be able to play college baseball and potentially go to Grand Junction CO, to compete for the Juco World Series. I can’t wait to see what this game has for me!"

Sheehy's love for baseball extends beyond the field itself. "What I love most about baseball is showing up to the diamond with my teammates and friends and having fun. I love playing the game relaxed, I love the drives to the games near and far, the sense of brotherhood in the organization, I love meeting new people and clicking with them, and of course, I love winning baseball games."

Sheehy also took a moment to extend his gratitude to the Nationals' new Scouting & Recruiting Coordinator, saying, "I also want to give a huge thank you to Phil Jankulovski for providing me opportunities and chances to be seen by schools, he has also been instrumental in this journey and I'm very appreciative for that."

The Ontario Nationals extend their congratulations to Jackson and his family on his commitment to Northeastern JC. His dedication to both his education and the game of baseball exemplifies the values the Nationals hold dear. We eagerly look forward to witnessing the great successes that lie ahead for this talented player.
