Tsuru Commits to USC Lancaster

The Ontario Nationals are pleased to announce Luca Tsuru’s commitment to the USC Lancaster (NJCAA I). Tsuru, a two-way player who excels as both a pitcher and infielder is originally from Bastos, São Paulo, Brazil and currently calls Kitchener, Ontario home. He has been a valued member of the Nationals organization since joining in 2022.

Luca came to the Nationals after some of his teammates moved to the program, seeking a competitive environment close to home. Over the years, he has developed into a hardworking and reliable team player, known for his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to bring energy and fun to the team.

For Luca, baseball has been a life-changing journey that began in Brazil and has taken him across borders to pursue his dreams. “What I love most about baseball is the journey it took me on – the constant improvement, the competition, and the thrill of the game. From the moment I first held a glove as a kid, to now, going to another country to play baseball in college, I was drawn to the sport,” he shared.

Luca credits baseball for teaching him invaluable life lessons. “The most powerful part of playing baseball is the lessons it teaches me: how to push through tough times, how to handle success and failure, and how to never stop striving to be better,” he reflected. Whether playing in Brazil or Canada, Luca’s passion for the game has fueled his growth as both an athlete and a person, instilling values like perseverance, confidence, and hard work.

USC Lancaster stood out to Luca for its academic and athletic opportunities. “I was drawn to USC Lancaster because of the strong academic support and the opportunity to grow both as an athlete and as a student,” he explained. Luca is eager to compete at the collegiate level, refine his skills under experienced coaching, and begin his academic journey in engineering as he works toward transferring to a four-year institution.
